Preventative maintenance is a great way to help you lower your equipment maintenance costs!
As we continue to deal with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s never been more important to control our fixed costs, and avoid costly equipment downtime. Your restaurant kitchen appliances are one of the most important assets that you have, and keeping them in working order is absolutely essential to riding out these lean times and adjusting to the “new normal.”
Fortunately, Don’s Supply is still open for business, and we have the service equipment and supplies in stock so that you can make sure that your guests continue to receive the great service that they’ve come to expect from your restaurant. We also service most of what we sell, so be sure to give us a call at the first sign of trouble. We also have a few tips to offer that will help you keep your equipment in working order. Most problems are preventable, or at least predictable, if you take the following precautions:
Cleanliness is the first step-”When it’s time to lean, it’s time to clean.” In addition to routine cleaning that takes place during food preparation, you need to develop a schedule for routine deep cleaning. Disassemble your equipment and don’t stop cleaning it until it looks factory new. Most equipment problems start with improper cleaning.
Follow the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule-Be familiar with the preventative maintenance recommendations in the documentation for your appliances, and follow them consistently.
Don’t perform unauthorized repairs-There are certain features of most kitchen appliances that can be serviced without any special training, but you should also be familiar with the repairs that require a professional serviceman. Unauthorized repairs can void your warranty, but the good news is that we’re here to help at any time!
